Okay, thoughts.

The previous post concerning Reagan interests me on many levels.   There are all breeds of rabbits to chase coming out of their hidey-holes on this one, but the biggest hare of interest to me is the fact that apparently Reagan recognized the transforming power of faith.  He knew it lived up to the very definition of politically incorrect to try to talk about faith and God with a view toward converting another.  However, Gorbachev was a seeker--seeking answers to the struggles of his country and political philosophy.

Political interests shouted to RR: "Don't play the faith card.  Play nice, be charming, stand tough, and opt for the power of popular approval."

Eternal interests whispered to RR:  "The only way lasting change is going to happen is through spiritual transformation.  This commie is a leader and threat, but he is also a soul for whom Christ died."

Maybe, I am giving RR too much credit, however, the point I would like to make is this:  There will be no solution to the messes we get ourselves into until we come to God to seek His perspective, His wisdom, and His will.  Man made solutions, without moral absolutes, will crater.   No man, be he president, pope, pickle pickler, or post-hole digger, will change the fact that man in his natural state is estranged from God--a situation he  cannot undo on his own.  Man, without God, will act in his own self-interests.  We cannot just expect people "to do the right thing," until they know the right solution.  The solution is, of course, seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be taken care of as well.
