Tonight is the last full night of our Vacation Bible School. The theme has been "Cactus Canyon." This theme comes from the Lifeway alternative material. We use the alternative (no, not Tony Evans) because it lends itself more to the mission work we do every summer.
It has been a western theme. Cowboy imagery abounds in the building. Tomorrow night is parent's night. We have probably had our best attended VBS in years. I have enjoyed leading the children in worship each evening.
I really believe in the importance of VBS. Many of the children attending this week have no Christian instruction in their lives, at home or in a church. We have to find ways of penetrating the increasing anti-Christian culture with the gospel. VBS is one way to strike a blow for truth, morality, and the way of Jesus. For Ridgeway, VBS is a whole church event. We involve everyone we can.
I want to say a big "Thank you" to those of you who have sacrificed as we served the Lord in VBS this week.
Last night, three young men professed their faith in Christ. There were others whom, I feel, are near to the point of decision. Please pray for a continual harvest from this week's efforts.
Best Joke of the Week
Dr. Phil: "Boys and girls its time for our motto. What's a motto?"
Children: "Nothing. What's a motto with you?"
